Maadi, Degla – Apartment on Road 233

Maggie and I found a wonderful apartment on Road 233 in Maadi, Degla. 233 is like a giant WalMart. I went down to the street one night and got a haircut, a brick of delicious French cheese, a warm olive baguette, a PS3 adapter, and a couple of pomegranates all within a three-block radius of our front door.

Rent is about $800/month; utilities run about $250 – which is within our housing stipend.

Most of the apartments in our price range had very compartmentalized rooms: everything was boxed-in. Ours is the only apartment that had an open floor plan for the kitchen/living room/dining room. This is attractive to us because we like to eat, watch movies, and talk all at the same time  -  SMiLE.
